Pure Combat Rules
Updated June 19, 2008

READ THE RULES THUROUGHLY AS YOU ARE EXPECTED TO OBEY THEM AT ALL TIMES, IGNORANCE OF RULES IS NOT AN EXCUSE AND BY JOINING THE PURE COMBAT GROUP YOU ARE AGREEING TO FOLLOW THEM! Also, note that these rules apply to everyone at ALL TIMES, whether in combat or not!

When you first teleport into the sim, you will be in a small rules room. You must read these rules fully to find out how to get out and to the safe zone.
DO NOT tell anyone else how to get out of the room, just refer them to these rules.
Helping someone get out of the room, either by telling the the way out or teleporting them anywhere but that room, will result in a group eject and temporary sim ban.

TEN RULES TO FOLLOW EVERY TIME YOU TELEPORT INTO PURE COMBAT:

1. Start from scratch.... Right click your name, and select Detach all. Put on a normal human shape or regular sized avatar, put on some hair and shoes if you want, and some clothes with non-scripted prim attachments. ~Avatar Guidelines~

2. Wear the free Terra 2.2 e-chute, or the Terra Pro chute III, or the Rapid orbital drop pod. See the vendors in the lobby once you read the rules and get out of the rules room. ~Regarding Parachutes~

3. Wear the latest version of the Pure Combat HUD. Current version can be found under the HUD giver in the safe zone. If you don't have one, keep reading. ~HUD Technical Info~

4. Wear ONLY a brand-name gun from one of the approved makers, such as Black Ops, SIC Weapons, Nortec, ect. (see allowed guns note for the full list). There are also freebies available in the safe zone if you don't have an approved weapon. Some guns from these makers need specific settings or aren't allowed at all. ~Allowed Guns and Recommended Settings~

5. No animation overriders in combat, or any other attachment besides an approved gun that changes your avatar animations. Wear ONLY a ZHAO II AO if you MUST in the safe zone, and ONLY after you ask an admin to approve it and have them put you on the list. But, a warning, the second you go into combat wearing an AO you will get a tphome. ~Animation Overriders (AO's)~

6. No using group chat for any reason whatsoever. Use /54 to talk on the Pure Combat sim-wide system, or search the group for an admin online to help you, we're glad to answer any questions you have in an IM. ~Group Chat and Spam Reporting~

7. Stuff NOT to do: General stupidity and having fun are fine, but we do not tolerate lewd behavior, racism, generic unfounded hatred and so on. No particles, no "bling", no "Xcite", no gestures with annoying sounds, no vehicles(unless provided by the sim), no holding the jump button down (bunnyhopping), no taking advantage of physics glitches(walking up walls, etc), no icky roleplay, no "orbiting", no "multitools" or other "combat huds", no shooting above "active" HUD level, no teleporting friends in (There is a landmark in the rules notecard you can give friends).

8. Now that you got this far, Search in the groups tab and join Pure Combat. We are the group named simply "Pure Combat" with over 1700 players, and join for $25L. Note: Sometimes the group does not show up on the first page of results, keep pressing the Next button until you find it. Need help finding it? Once you arrive at the safe-zone, you can right-click on anyone's name and look for it in their groups on their profile. Much easier.

9. We play hard and fast, with killer guns and explosives. You will die a LOT until you get the hang of it, don't let yourself be scared off by the people using full auto SMGs. There will be no whining. In most cases, the players will decide what guns they will use as a group effort to keep the playing field level.

10. Since we assume you've read these rules, we expect you to follow them, and will respond accordingly upon breaking any one of them. Last but not least, never ever do anything to piss any of the admins off.

~~~FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS~~~
Q: I'm being shot at while parachuting down, that's cheap!
A: Combat is allowed as soon as the HUD turns ACTIVE, that means you can fire down on people at ground level also. There are "pull" and "close" gestures available in the lobby right next to the free terra e-chute. Best bet is to use movement keys to make yourself harder to hit.
Q: I was sent back to my home point but have no idea why, what gives?
A: Most likely you broke a rule or two. Unless it's a major violation you'll be warned before being ejected, pay attention to chat when you receive a message and your HUD beeps. If it's a major violation or you don't listen to warnings, you'll be ejected with a message sent to your HUD, check chat history to find out why you were kicked.
Q: I'm stuck in a small room when I teleport in, what now?
A: If you already have a current version HUD, simply sit on one of the chairs to enter the main part of the waiting area. If you don't have a HUD yet, you'll have to read the rules in game to find out the secret to getting out, just click the large RULES sign in the starting room.
Q: I think someone's cheating, I shot them dozens of times but they won't die.
A: If they're not wearing a HUD, the HUD check system will detect them soon and take care of them. Otherwise you might not be hitting them. SL combat is not like most first person shooters, bullets take time to hit your target, and there are more things affecting where your bullets will hit. Sim lag, the gun scripts, how you're moving, etc, will all affect your shots. It takes time to get used to it and be effective in SL combat.
Q: Someone shot me once and I died, what happened?
A: There are three causes to this. First, the base bullet damage may have been set high by admins, check the HUD menu for per bullet damage. Second, a few guns have an API system that allows them to do more damage than normal, but is restricted to slow firing Pure Combat freebies and Black Ops weapons. Finally you may have been hit by a stream of bullets by a high firerate weapon that may have seemed like one hit, in which case you need to keep moving.
